C-003823: LEXICAL FREQUENCY STATISTICS IN JAPANESE
The CJK Dictionary Institute maintains comprehensive databases of lexical statistics, such as frequency of occurrence, for Japanese and Chinese, based on large corpora. The concept of "frequency" in relation to Japanese lexical items is tricky. This document describes seven kinds of Japanese word and character frequency statistics with example tables. In principle, these different kinds of frequency statistics apply to Chinese as well.

"Newspaper Article" is the newspaper-clippings data from the end of Meiji to Showa 45 it was created by Research Institute for Economics and Business Administration, and is called "newspaper-clippings library". scrapbooks hard collected over 60 years or more has a huge quantity of about 500,000 affairs, if it is made into about 3200 volumes and the number of reports.

This dictionary has the same contents as WebLSD(2009,Jannuary ed.)and specialized serach tool, JammingLight. It compiles English-Japanese and Japanese-English dictionary. Available with Windows Vista/XP machines.The format is EPWING-compatible, so other search tools can be used than Jamming.

This corpus is the basis for the research project Secondary Information Structuring and Comparative Discourse Analysis (part of the research group Text Technological Modelling of Information). At the moment this corpus contains dialogues in Japanese (2.125 utterances, 15.267 words) and in Kilivila (1.141 utterances, 6.057 words).

C-003843: The Tanaka Corpus
The corpus was compiled by Professor Yasuhito Tanaka at Hyogo University and his students, as described in his Pacling2001 paper. At Pacling2001 Professor Tanaka released copies of the corpus, and stated that it is in the public domain. According to Professor Christian Boitet, Professor Tanaka did not think the collection was of a very good standard. (Sadly, Prof. Tanaka died in early 2003.)

This is a database for searching the sounds of Chinese character in several dialects. Please use it as an on-line dictionary. For the moment, compound search is not corresponded. When the items which completely match the key you search, Unicode and reading of the Chinese characters in Japanese, Mandarin, Shanghai dialect, Taiwanese, Chaozhou or Teochew, Hakka of Meizhou, and Cantonese will be displayed.
